Trocaire activities for Lent

1st Mar 2021

See Email below:

Dear Teacher,
We hope you had a relaxing mid-term break.

Just before Lent started we sent you an email telling you all about our Lent 2021 Schools Plan. This is the first of our weekly activity emails that we mentioned. Before you ask your students to do this week’s activity, it would be great if they first watched our information video that can be found on this page and you can ask them to download their ‘My Trócaire Box’ here

Week 1: Exploring Kindness
A very strong theme that comes out of this year’s Lent story is the Kindness Awut and Ajak have shown each other and how this gives them hope.

We have created an activity for your students called ‘A Photo Story from South Sudan - Kindness; Surviving and Thriving Together’ which explores the importance of kindness and sharing. To download this free resource visit the following page

My Trócaire Box
Once the students have worked through the resource, they can use Panel One of their ‘My Trócaire Box’ to bring to life what they have learned. They can draw a picture, create some abstract art or write a short poem about why being kind is important to them.

Fundraising tip
You could ask students to think about what kind deeds they can do around the house for pocket money to start to fill their Trócaire box

They could;

• Wash the car
• Plant some bulbs in the garden
• Do the dinner dishes all week

You can also check out our new fundraising initiative ‘Get Moving for Trócaire’ for tips about how your students can stay healthy and raise some money as part of a team.

You could ask them to share their fundraising ideas in your next class zoom call!

We hope your students enjoy this week’s activity – there’s lots more to come and we cannot wait to see their creativity shine. We’d love hear from you so please email any designs and fundraising ideas to schools@trocaire.org

Kind regards
Sarah
