Residential Trip to Delamont with P5-7

24th Jun 2022

The boys and girls from P5-7 enjoyed a residential one night stay at Delamont this week. They hopped on the youth service bus along with Mrs Porter and Mrs Cochrane and stayed overnight. On the first day they took part in an adventure walk through the river at Tollymore Forest Park in Newcastle. This was great fun and ended with some of the boys and girls including Mrs Cochrane jumping into the river from a height!! They were very brave but kept going back for more lol! The not so brave ones went for a swim and a walk through the river and had a ball! Next up was a bite to eat followed by a sea safari trip from Killyleagh over to Strangford where Mrs Porter got everyone an ice cream treat. The weather was fabulous and the children absolutely loved the boat trip. Some adventurous boys then went for a dip in the ice cold salty water. What a fun day was had by all. They boys and girls then had a nice supper before heading to bed to have a go at sleeping lol!

Today it was an early start as they had to get their bags packed and the beds stripped before breakfast at half 8. They worked super hard and were ready early for the first activity of the day which was the climbing wall. The boys and girls all had a go at both archery and the climbing wall and literally had a ball!! They helped each other out and cheered each other on. Mrs Porter and Mrs Cochrane even had a go! It was a great morning of activity ending in a lovely lunch before the trip back to school. The staff at Delamont made a point to praise the pupils saying they were the best group they’ve had in a long time. They really are a fantastic bunch of kids and are a credit to both the school and their families. The children will definitely sleep tonight 💤🛏😴
