New guidance for opening next week

31st Dec 2020

Good morning everyone,
I hope you and all your family had a nice Christmas and I want to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and healthy new year.
Peter Weir, the minister for education, has announced that schools will remain closed until January 11th.
This is NOT an extension of school holidays and remote learning will begin on Wednesday 6th January for all children.
All staff will be in school on Tuesday to prepare home learning packs and parents will be able to collect these packs on Tuesday afternoon. Times to be arranged.
The guidelines state that children of key workers and children who would be considered vulnerable should be facilitated in school, if required. See the attached document for the list of key workers/vulnerable.
Should you feel that you or your child falls into either of these categories please contact me directly by email by 1 o'clock today (Monday) or by completing the following form;

and we will work with you to ensure all our children are supported to provide minimal disruption to their education while safeguarding the health and safety of our whole school community.
God bless and happy new year,
Mrs Porter
Principal

Update 2pm Clarification on key workers, transfer and free school meals.

·       A child of a key worker is a child for whom both parents (or a parent in a single parent family) is a key worker, with no other safe alternative. The Department predict numbers should be low.

·       The Department have stated children who qualify as children of key workers will be in the school building for 'supervised 'learning'. It should be made clear to parents that this is not 'face-to-face teaching'; this is being supervised in the school building, doing the same activities as the children who are at home.

Year 7 children should not be brought into school for transfer tuition. This would be against DE policy.

Free school Meals payments will be made next week- see image for more information.
