Dear Headteacher

This study is an opportunity to measure the impact of the cost-of-living crisis on diet, exercise, physical activity and home environment of children in Northern Ireland across age groups and economic spectrum. It is important to understand the issues children face in accessing a healthy lifestyle, to identify priorities for policymakers to improve the health and well-being of children in Northern Ireland.

We would appreciate your support in recruitment for this study as we aim to capture information on primary school children in Northern Ireland.

The format of the study is a survey that can be completed online. We have provided a flyer for parents and children in relation to the study and these include the link to the study itself:  https://redcap.link/COST_NI

Further information is provided on the survey site. Completion of the study is voluntary and we will ask for informed consent prior to completion.

We would ask if you could share the information leaflet and study link with your parents via whatever platform you feel is appropriate.

Each school that takes part will be entered into a raffle to win £200 in vouchers for books. Every family that takes part will be entered into a prize draw to win 1 of 3 £100 vouchers for Smyth’s toyshop.

If you want to discuss any aspect of this further, then please do not hesitate to contact us at the details above.

Many thanks

Ms Fionnuala Donaghy, Dr Anne-Marie McClean, Dr Naomi Kirk, Dr Tom Waterfield
